Bird Treats
Bird treats are just that a treat and should not be given in place of good food. They are used to let the bird know they are being good or they did well when doing a trick or talking. You can provide you bird with all sorts of treats home made or bought. They have honey covered, peanut butter, special shapes for the holidays etc. Just make sure to give the bird treats that are ment for that type of bird. There is no point in giving a large parrot treat to a parakeet they might not even eat most of it. And old school treat that is given to wild birds is a pinecone covered in peanut butter rolled in seed and hung from the cage. Simple and inexpensive. I use treats to give them something different to eat and play with at the same time. I will also use a treat for good behavior like stepping up for the first time they generally get a small piece of millet. If it was a good training day then when they go back in the cage I might hang a honey covered seed treat in the cage letting the bird know that good behavior gets them goodies.
Don't go overboard on treats or the bird might only eat the treat and not thier normal diet.
